About

Comadre is a contemporary, independent and collaborative art platform that aims to shed light on necessary themes of our times through cultural and artistic projects.

We believe that we live in an intertwined network of mutualism, what affects one individual or species affects all others. Therefore, social gaps will only be reduced with widespread participation. It is with this thought of expansion and breadth that we decided not to work alone, our activities become possible only in conjunction with other organizations of a social nature or research and actions with which we identify and perceive their initiatives and struggles as valuable.

We assume that partnerships are necessary to expand the scope of what we want to talk about, to learn from other ways of working, behaving and reacting to the structures of the world. We believe that cooperation develops through affectionate, fair and balanced relationships.

Founded in 2023 in Rio de Janeiro, by Gabriela Davies and Maíra Marques, Comadre operates in a nomadic way, without a fixed headquarters and with activities that take place in urban, rural and digital locations, seeking to rethink the place of art.
